PHOENIX -- High- and mid-level clouds from the sub-tropics dominated the weather picture around Arizona on Wednesday. At times, it was mostly cloudy.

Temperatures stayed on the warm side with highs in the mid-90s in the deserts. We will see temperatures come down a few degrees as we head toward the weekend, when we’re forecasting highs of around 90 degrees both Saturday and Sunday.

An interesting low-pressure system will move across the state on Friday and Saturday. Its origin is in the sub-tropics.

We expect Friday to be another pretty cloudy day, and we’ll probably see a lot of virga around, rain that evaporates before it hits the ground. That’s because the atmosphere is pretty dry, and any moisture that does come out of the clouds should evaporate before getting to ground level.

Even so, a few light showers may occur in the mountains of our state. Outside of a few sprinkles around the Valley, we’re not expecting much in central Arizona from this system.

Afterwards, the quiet weather will return and temperatures will stay in about the same range as we head into next week.
