SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- An 87-year-old woman is dead after a car wreck in Scottsdale.

It happened Tuesday evening at Scottsdale and Osborn roads.

According to police, Susan Semmons-Rector was a passenger in a Buick that was turning left from northbound Scottsdale Road to westbound Osborn Road.

The Buick collided with a Mazda SUV that was heading south on Scottsdale Road.

A friend of Semmons-Rector's, an elderly male, was driving. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to nearby Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.

Semmons-Rector was transported, as well. She later died of her injuries.

The driver of the SUV was treated at the scene and released.

Officer David Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department said it does not look like speed or impairment were factors in the crash.

The intersection was closed for five hours while police conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation.
