Opening day for Turf Paradise is this Saturday 18th. Meanwhile, this week the horses and jockeys, many of which are coming from out of town, are now taking the track and are in full training mode!

Horizon High School: Broadway Under the Stars, "You Should be Dancing"
Horizon's Award winning Show choirs will perform top Broadway hits, from Wicked, and more for their annual Broadway Under the Stars event. More than 350 kids will be in costume and performing "You should be Dancing". Horizon's new lighting has more theatrical lights than the Orpheum! Most in the state for High School! Horizon's Award winning choir will perform songs from hit Broadway musicals like The Wiz, Dream Girls, Rock of Ages, and many more. Great family show!

Work $mart/Negotiate Pay Event
Nationally, women on average earn seventy seven cents on the dollar compared to men, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Arizona has one of the narrowest pay gaps in the country, where women on average are paid .86 cents on the dollar as compared to men. The Arizona YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix is hosting a Work $mart Event on November 12 to teach women how to negotiate to be paid what they are worth. Work $mart workshops have been presented for working women in community organizations including YWCAs; and at professional meetings of women lawyers, pharmacists, academics, academic staff, physicians, scientists, librarians, engineers and more.

She had picky eaters at home, knew she wasn't alone, and decided to come up with a website and service to help change our perceptions of food. She invented and Max on Snacks, a monthly event for children where they get fun recipes and education on better food in a cartoon format. Get excited to eat the right stuff!
