The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that Idaho and Nevada's bans on marriage for same-sex couples was unconstitutional.

However, this isn't currently the case for Arizona even though the state is also within the jurisdiction of the Ninth Circuit.

"As attorney general, it's my obligation to defend all laws passed by the Legislature," Tom Horne said on the marriage ban. "In this case by the voters, this was an initiative by the voters, and so we will continue to defend it."

Jeremy Zegas, project director for Why Marriage Matters Arizona, stopped by the studio Wednesday to explain why he thinks Tom Horne is the only one in the way of marriage freedom.

"We believe that everyone is entitled to the same constitution," Zegas said. "The vote the attorney general is talking about happened 60 years ago."

Why Marriage Matters Arizona is a grassroots public education campaign that builds support for the freedom to marry in Arizona.
