Skyline HS to Ellen DeGeneres; Come see us! Because #SkylineLovesEllenPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- The students of Skyline High School are begging Ellen DeGeneres to come to their homecoming pep rally, and they've launched a social media campaign -- #SkylineLovesEllen -- to make it happen.
Although the kids are on fall break right now, a ton of excited students gathered early Tuesday morning to show 3TV's Heidi Goitia and "Good Morning Arizona" viewers just how much they adore DeGeneres.
"We know that Ellen is fantastic," Skyline's student body president Ryan Gurr said. "She's fun. Skyline's fun."
The students had on their dancing shoes Tuesday morning because they know how much DeGeneres loves to dance, and they want to see her moves in person.
Not only are they posting "anything and everything about Ellen" on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #SkylineLovesEllen, the students also sent the talk show host a video explaining why she should visit Skyline.
"I will probably cry," Gurr said with a laugh when Goitia asked him how he would react if indeed DeGeneres does show up on Oct. 24. "We will all be uber ecstatic! We're planning on her showing up. … I'm sure we have a pretty good chance.
"We're gonna get her here!" he continued as the students chanted "I believe that she will come!" behind him.
Whether it's via social media or video clips like the ones above, the message to DeGeneres is simple.
"Ellen DeGeneres, we love you!" an exuberant Gurr, who was losing his voice from cheering so much, said. "Skyline loves you! We love you here in Mesa, Arizona!"
The students of Skyline are determined to convince her to visit them in Mesa.
Her presence on Oct. 24, Gurr said, would make Skyline's homecoming pep assembly (which he calls the school's version of the Oscars) "the best pep assembly that has ever been on this whole planet."
Skyline High School is already having a great year. Their varsity football and badminton teams are undefeated, and other sports are posting banner seasons.
There is just one thing that could make this year better for the Coyotes -- DeGeneres at their "HoCo" assembly.
Thank you so much to @3TVNews for coming to Skyline this morning! Thanks to everyone who came over October Break to be on TV!— Skyline High (@SHSCoyotes) October 7, 2014
