Think Pink & Buy For A Cause In OctoberPosted: Updated:
Pink is everywhere you look since October has arrived bringing with it Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) month. With the passing of my dear Aunt Betty from this dreadful disease over 10 years ago, this cause has become near and dear to my heart. So I love to show pink products that we can purchase that give back to BCA month. Here is what I found so far this month and some of these items make great holiday gift ideas as well.
Home & Kitchen
*The Original Rabbit Corkscrew ($50 at www.Metrokane.com) -- With an award-winning design that pulls and ejects corks in 3 seconds flat, it also has a foil cutter and extra spiral included in the box. Throughout the year, 5 percent of sales from the Original Rabbit Corkscrew in pink are donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering for breast cancer research.
*Coyuchi – (sold at EcoClean in Phoenix and at Twig & Twill in Scottsdale or at http://www.coyuchi.com/natural.html) This very nice line of sustainable home furnishings and other items that include comfy robes, pajamas and more offers 100% organic cotton bedding. This is a favorite among chemically sensitive people, as these products are the natural color of cotton, and never whitened or dyed. Throughout this month, a donation equal to 10% of sales (or up to $7,500) from Coyuchi's “Natural Category” will be made toward Breast Cancer research and support. These products include every non-dyed item sold on Coyuchi.com.
*Sparkling Ice Pink Grapefruit ($1.29 - $2.29 in grocery stores) -- Check out the pink ribbon that appears on the Sparking Ice Pink Grapefruit zero calorie beverage this month. That is because this company donates $25,000 throughout the year to nationwide research facilities that are working to find a cure for breast cancer. In addition to that, Sparkling Ice also aids local communities and affiliates with more than $100,000 in donations annually, Sparkling Ice allows each community they work with to select the BCA charities that receive donations from the beverage sales.
*Uye Surana Liquid Drapey Blouse ($35 at www.uyesurana.com) -- This beautifully draped neckline blouse scoops low with a loose fit across the shoulders and a more tapered waist, which is a very flattering look. It layers seamlessly with a delicately detailed bra or with a interesting slip or tank underneath. Made in New York City and as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 10% of all proceeds of the sale of this pink blouse will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
