LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- An off-duty Buckeye police officer was critically injured in a motorcycle crash, according to Officer Chris Hegstrom with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

It happened early Saturday morning at Bird Lane and Litchfield Rd, which is near Camelback Rd.

The road is curved where the crash occurred.

MCSO Investigators said speed and impairment were factors in the crash.

Buckeye police department spokeswoman Tamela Skaggs confirmed that an officer with the department was involved in an incident Saturday morning but in an email wrote, "Right now we cannot comment during an ongoing criminal investigation."
