PHOENIX -- A vacant mobile home was destroyed by a fire on Saturday morning.

It happened at a community on 7th Street, just north of Baseline Road.

The fire was reported at about 9:15 a.m.

The person who called in the fire said there were flames showing and that it was close to spreading to a second mobile home.

In an email, Phoenix Fire Dept. Capt. Benjamin Santillan said firefighters had to run 1,000 feet of supply line to get water on the fire. The closest hydrant was outside of the mobile home community.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a single unit.

Nobody was hurt.

Neighbors said the unit had been vacant for an extended period of time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
