PHOENIX – An 80-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Cave Creek Friday morning.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Robert Kort was parked on the side of the road near Tatum and Dynamite boulevards.

An MCSO spokesman said it appears Kort was carrying a homemade garage sale sign when a car clipped him, throwing him into the air.

He was treated at the scene then transported to a local hospital. He reportedly has critical injuries.

The driver was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

According to MCSO, speed and impairment were not factors in the collision.

Eastbound Dynamite is closed at Tatum for the investigation.
