PHOENIX -- After a mild week of weather, Friday will be sunny and warmer in the Valley, with afternoon highs topping out near 98 degrees. The average high for today's date is 94 degrees, which we've been below all week so far.
Relatively strong high pressure building over our region, along with a dry air mass, will bring afternoon temperatures a few degrees above normal today through the weekend. Temperatures will range from the upper 90s to the low triple digits through Sunday. Overnight lows will continue to dip to the mid 60s to low 70s around town under clear skies.
High temperatures will drop off a few degrees Sunday and continue to fall into next week with a modest cooling trend that will bring us back to normal levels for early October. No rain in the Valley is expected for the next 7 days, although Tropical Storm Simon may bring a bit of moisture to Southern Arizona by the middle of next week.
