Michael Lopez, age 21 By Jennifer Thomas
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- A man is in custody for allegedly assaulting Prescott Valley police officers who were trying to arrest him.
Police said Michael Lopez, 21, is being held at the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of resisting arrest and multiple domestic violence misdemeanor charges.
Police responded to a domestic violence call near Superstition and Navajo drives Saturday morning. They said Lopez was being disorderly toward his family, exhibiting severe mood swings and refusing to leave after numerous requests to do so by relatives.
Police tried to talk Lopez into leaving the home, but he refused. An officer used a stun gun on him when he resisted arrest.
Two officers sustained minor injuries.
Police said Lopez was visiting from California. He allegedly was having delusions after using methamphetamines all night.
