TEMPE, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a man who was seen performing a sex act inside a Tempe church Wednesday afternoon.

An adult who was walking through the parking lot of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church near Rural and Broadway roads reportedly saw the man through an open door to the chapel.

According to police, no one else was present at the time of the indecent exposure.

Tempe police searched the church property and the surrounding area, including the adjacent Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic School.

Police said the man had no contact with children, but school administrators sent an email to parents to make them aware of the incident.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 white man between 30 and 45 years old. He has brown or blond hair, a clean-shaven face and a medium build. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with a graphic design, dark shorts or pants, and wire-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Tempe police at 480-350-8311.
