State office agrees to provide records to groupPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A nonprofit group involved in a campaign finance dispute with the Arizona Secretary of State's Office will get requested records as they become available.
A Maricopa County Superior Court judge canceled a scheduled hearing on the Arizona Free Enterprise Club's request for an order requiring the office to immediately produce the office's records on the group.
The office has backed away from its previous position that it would produce the records as they became available. That prompted the group to sue, but the office has since changed its position.
The office contends the group is actually operating like a political committee and should disclose its donors.
The group denies that it's a political committee.
Judge Randall Warner has scheduled an Oct. 15 hearing to determine whether the case is resolved.
