PEORIA, Ariz. -- Competitive jump rope team the Saguaro Skippers will be performing and giving basic lessons at the Peoria Main Library on Saturday.

The Jump Rope Day celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with a performance by the Saguaro Skippers and tips about jump roping will follow.

"We are made up of jumpers from ages 8 all the way up to 16 and we do performances all over the Valley and we compete regionally, as well," said Laura Filoso, the team coach of the Saguaro Skippers.

They have performed all over the Valley, including at Arizona State University, Phoenix Suns games and Arizona Diamondbacks games.

The Saguaro Skippers were founded in 2007 and their goal is to promote the heart-healthy sport of jump rope through performances and competitions.

They also offer a clinic open to anyone wanting to learn basic jumping skills every Monday at 4 p.m. at the Rio Vista Recreation Center.
