PHOENIX -- October is off to a pretty nice start in Arizona. Valley residents woke up to temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s under clear skies. This afternoon will bring high temperatures near 94 degrees with abundant sunshine and light winds.
A shortwave weather disturbance passing to our north today will bring breezy weather mainly for the higher elevations. A high pressure ridge building to our west will bring a warming trend as we get closer to the weekend, with temperatures peaking in the upper 90s for the Phoenix area Friday through Sunday. Overnight lows will only rise slightly, ranging from the mid 60s to low 70s around the Valley.
A slow cooling trend is on tap for next week, when high temperatures will return to normal early October levels in the mid 90s. Continued dry weather is forecast and no rain is forecast for the next seven days.
