Emmy-winning comedian Craig Shoemaker is switching gears in his career to focus more on writing and becoming an author.

In his book Lovemaster'd, Shoemaker has claimed to become a real-life love guru.

Shoemaker's hope was that Lovemaster'd, released this month, offers hope to those grieving and dealing with relationship breakups and family wounds.

The idea and base of his book originated from a Facebook conversation with an acquaintance named Leah who was going through a divorce after 30 years of marriage.

"I've truly mastered love and other people can too from reading the book," Shoemaker said. "I'm helping people through their grief and through healing and that's what I'm here to do. I have a calling and that's why I've helped Leah and I can help other people."

Dr. Craig Shoemaker will be using his background experience from his "Daditude" Showtime special and his knowledge from his PhD to help advise people on love, relationships, divorce, and healing.

He will be retiring from standup comedy in January to focus more on his writing.

However, you can still catch Shoemaker's comedian side before the end of the year.

He will be at Tempe Improv on November 20.
