TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Tucson police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one person dead.

Police say 45-year-old David Jered Allardice was driving near the intersection of South Houghton Road and South Civano Boulevard on Friday just after 8:30 p.m.

They say Allardice's Jeep Liberty was found to have crashed into a tree.

Allardice was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the vehicle appears to have been heading southbound but then crossed over northbound traffic lanes and then went over a curb.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
