YUMA, Ariz. -- Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two smugglers and seized 34 pounds of methamphetamine on Thursday.
Blythe Station agents patrolling near Interstate 10 stopped a vehicle and ran a records check on the driver. They learned he was suspected of being a narcotics body-carrier, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
While agents attempted to search the vehicle's trunk, the driver sped off. Agents pursued the vehicle for approximately 30 miles before the driver stopped again.
Agents searched the vehicle and found a duffel bag containing 28 bricks of methamphetamine.
The meth was worth an estimated $102,000.
Agents turned the vehicle, narcotics and two smugglers over to the Blythe, California, Narcotics Enforcement Task Force.
