PHOENIX – Police are searching for a driver who rammed a patrol car in north Phoenix.

Sgt. Trent Crump with the Phoenix Police Department said an officer attempted to stop a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning. The driver pulled into a private drive in an attempt to avoid the officer.

Crump said as the officer was attempting to give commands to the driver, he put the stolen vehicle into reverse and rammed the police vehicle.

The driver abandoned the stolen vehicle in a residential neighborhood in the area of 35th Avenue and Rose Garden Lane.

Police were not able to locate the suspect, who was described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s with a thin build, short brown hair and wearing a gray shirt.
