PHOENIX -- Our last day of summer will be a warm one. After a humid morning, look for a partly cloudy afternoon with temperatures peaking near 101 degrees. Overnight lows will dip to the 70s.
Fall officially begins tonight at 7:29 p.m. Arizona time with the autumnal equinox. Days and night are of near-equal length and the days will begin getting shorter over the next few months.
Drier air moving into the region will bring warmer temperatures and decreased storm chances through about the middle of the week.
We'll top out near 103 degrees by Thursday before a storm moves closer for the weekend.
Rain chances begin Friday and continue through the weekend as a Pacific storm system moves through the state. Afternoon highs will also drop to the low 90s this weekend.
