PHOENIX -- Jackie Galbraith is now the proud owner of a brand new 2014 Volkswagen Passat S.

"I said I have been having a lucky streak lately, and this is amazing," she said.

Galbraith is also a dedicated blood donor here in the Valley, and because she gave blood, United Blood Services gave her and nine other finalists a chance at winning a car.

"We've drawn these 10 names of very worthy donors that cumulatively have given blood more than 325 times during their lifetime," said Sue Thew with United Blood Services.

It's donors like Galbraith who help patients like young Mia McPoland.

"Blood has saved my life 114 times," Mia said.

She was born with Diamond-Blackfan anemia, a rare disorder that prevents her body from producing red blood cells.

"Every three to four weeks, I go to the hospital and receive a blood transfusion," Mia said.

And donating blood is something Galbraith encourages others to do.

"I love giving blood," she said. "Everybody donate!"
