Rent-A-Center helps local food banksPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Local Rent-A-Center representatives donated $15,000 and 10 refrigerators to St. Mary's Food Bank Wednesday.
This donation was part of Rent-A-Center's annual donation of $250,000 to food banks across the country during Hunger Action Month in September.
"We work on a shoestring budget to begin with so our ability to have partners like this to help us with these big item needs is absolutely imperative," Cassie Wilkins of All Faith Community Services said.
The refrigerators will allow St. Mary's Food Bank to hold more perishable items.
"The sad reality is that families across the country continue to struggle with food insecurity," said Mitch Fadel, president and COO of Rent-A-Center and a board member of the North Texas Food Bank. "It is critical that we continue supporting the communities we serve through the outstanding efforts of food banks."
Rent-A-Center's local donations have helped the World First Food Bank to provide more than 650,000 meals across Arizona in the last five years, according to Beverly Damore, St. Mary's President and CEO.
