PHOENIX – A 19-year-old Tempe man accused of fatally shooting one person and wounding another at a Christmas party has been sentenced to 31 years in prison.

Daniel Cody Taylor was sentenced Friday as part of a plea agreement.

He pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Tempe police said Taylor crashed a party Dec. 7 at an apartment complex near University Drive and Price Road but was asked to leave by the resident.

Police said Taylor returned early the next morning and fired into the apartment's front patio, killing Jeff Ward and wounding a woman.
