Phoenix weather: rain chances for the next couple of days
By Tami Hoey
PHOENIX -- Tropical Storm Odile is no more, just a remnant of the former storm, but it’s still headed into Arizona and still expected to create some flooding problems, mainly in southeastern Arizona. Already in the Valley on Wednesday, Falcon Field in Mesa received more than 2” of rain and a rain gauge in Apache Junction had nearly an inch and a half.
Other areas reported street flooding for a short time Wednesday afternoon and temperatures dropped into the 70s around the Valley.
For the rest of Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday, we could see a few isolated showers or thunderstorms. However, the threat in the Valley of any flooding is going down with each passing hour. While we’re not expecting any widespread flooding around metro Phoenix, there’s still a chance for an isolated neighborhood that could get a big rain and a flash flood. As a result, the Flash Flood Watch is continuing for the Valley and much of Arizona.
