PHOENIX -- A couple who went missing Sunday evening after leaving their home to pick up a family member at Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe have been found safe.
Paul Armijo, 79, and Cora Castillo Armijo, 85, were driving a tan 2006 Jeep Liberty when they left their home in the area of Southern and 40th avenues in Phoenix at approximately 6:40 p.m. They never arrived at the mall.
Paul used his bank card for a purchase at a service station/convenience store in Tempe at around 4 a.m. Monday, according to Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department. At that time, he asked a person in the store for directions to Phoenix.
A Silver Alert was issued for the couple.
