TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Police say a 6-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Tucson.

Sgt. Chris Widmer says David Araos was walking with his 13-year-old brother on Broadway Boulevard on Saturday night when they stopped in a middle lane while crossing the street.

Widmer says a Dodge Durango was heading westbound on Broadway when it collided with the boy, who was attempting to cross the remaining lanes of traffic.

The boy was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities say the 65-year-old woman driving the Durango remained at the scene and was cooperative.

No citations were issued.
