PHOENIX -- An 82-year-old woman was seriously injured in a car crash in North Phoenix Sunday.

Phoenix police spokesman Officer James Holmes said an 85-year-old man driving a 1997 Toyota was leaving the Costco parking lot to head south on 26th Street when he failed to yield to a Chevrolet Suburban traveling east on Beardsley Road.

The Toyota was struck, and the female passenger was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Charles Deleon.

Holmes said all other injuries were minor.

Investigators closed Beardsley Road from Cave Creek Road to 32nd Street.
