PEORIA, Ariz. -- An 8-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a pickup truck while riding her bike in Peoria.

Police said the girl was riding home from school in a neighborhood near 69th and Peoria avenues Friday afternoon.

She was reportedly riding her bike southbound on 69th Avenue when she went through a stop sign at Brown Street and was struck by an eastbound pickup truck, which was traveling at about 25 to 30 mph.

Police said the driver did not have a stop sign.

He remained at the scene and did not appear to be impaired, police said.
