PHOENIX – A woman managed to escape after her live-in boyfriend allegedly bound her with duct tape and threatened to take her to the desert and kill her, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Sgt. Trent Crump said the incident started as a domestic dispute early Thursday morning and drinking was involved. The couple apparently were arguing about the woman having communication with another man.

"At some point, the suspect duct-taped our victim and began to assault her, actually choked her to the point where she was unconscious," Crump said.

The victim was able to partially free herself and escape their home near Cave Creek and Bell roads. Crump said she fled to a bar across the street with duct tape still attached.

The suspect chased the victim but turned back when the bar patrons approached to check her welfare.

The suspect ran back to their home where he reportedly had multiple guns. Tactical teams served a search warrant and recovered evidence, but the suspect was not there.

The victim is being treated for injuries received during the assault. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect is still outstanding.
