Phoenix weather: Wet weekend likelyPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Monsoon moisture is returning to Arizona after about a week of hot and dry weather. Look for a Valley high of 105 degrees today under partly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of showers today and tomorrow before rain chances increase this weekend.
Along with monsoon moisture, Arizona is about to get a big moisture push from Hurricane Norbert. The storm is expected to weaken as it pushes northwest parallel to the Baja Peninsula. However, its proximity to Arizona means a lot of the moisture from the storm will be pulled up into our state. That abundant moisture will lead to an increased chance of storms from late Saturday through late Monday. During that time period, the Valley could see between one and two inches of rain, with flooding and flash flooding possible.
Temperatures are forecast to fall with the changing weather pattern. Look for temperatures peaking near 101 degrees on Saturday, but only in the mid 90s Sunday.
Low 90s are forecast for Monday and Tuesday afternoons, and rain chances begin to decrease by late Tuesday.
