Burglar turns off power to Black Canyon City restaurant, steals cash

BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. – Yavapai County authorities are searching for a male suspect in a burglary at a Black Canyon City restaurant.

The suspect broke a window to enter Beni's Pizza near Old Black Canyon Highway and K-Mine Road at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said the suspect tore away drywall and gained access to the front counter and office, stealing hundreds of dollars in cash.

He also turned off the power to the restaurant, resulting in extensive damage to refrigerated food. The value of the food loss exceeds $2,000.

The sheriff's office has released video security images of the suspect, who is described as being in his 20s to early 30s, with a medium build, wearing a camouflage design hooded jacket, shorts, black sneakers and white socks.
