PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police have identified a man fatally shot by officers after he repeatedly fired a rifle at officers, neighbors' houses and a police helicopter.
But police say they still don't know what motive 55-year-old Richard Ray Aceves had for firing multiple shots from his front porch late Monday night.
Officer James Holmes says the only prior contact that the Phoenix Police Department had with Aceves was as a victim or a witness.
According to Holmes, there's no indication that officers went to his home before the Monday night shooting.
No officers or anybody else was injured.
