Eyelash extensions are extremely popular, but what you don't know can cause permanent damage to your eyelashes.

Kim Peterson, owner of Lash Out in Ahwatukee, sees bad eyelash extensions daily and said this problem is getting worse.

Lash Out does individual eyelash extensions where one lash is attached to one natural lash instead of a cluster attachment.

"When you wear a good set of eyelash extensions, you should never feel them," Peterson said. "Unless you look in a mirror, you don't know they're there."

Peterson advises women to ask the right questions when finding a technician to put eyelashes on. Is the technician trained and licensed? What type of glue or adhesive is used?

"Make sure it's going to take at least an hour and a half or more to put them on," Peterson said.
