Pesticides in your fruits and vegetables

Local produce expert Ron Paradis joined 3TV Wednesday morning to talk about the worst pesticide offenders this year.

There are 12 fruits and vegetables, or the "Dirty Dozen," that contain up to 15 pesticides consumers should watch out for, Paradis said.

On the other hand, there is also the "Clean 15," produce that generally has a harder outer shell and less pesticides.

Simply washing the produce doesn't do much to minimize the pesticides either, according to Paradis. To avoid these high-pesticide items, try buying organic.
