'Vibetality' studio offers vibration fitness classes, sensory deprivation tankPosted: Updated:
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A Chandler fitness and wellness studio is promising to "shake up" your exercise routine!
Vibetality offers "vibrating fitness classes." They're called Vibetality whole body vibration (WBV) classes. In just 15 minutes of working out on a vibrating mat, you can reportedly get amazing results.
At first glance, the class looks like a regular yoga session, with everyone on their mats. What you can't see are the vibrating plates beneath each mat.
"The vibration itself is just a phenomenal opportunity for the fibers of the muscles to get full activation," says owner Patrick Brennan. "When you're on the plate, you're getting this constant challenge, this neural challenge, that actually goes through the musculature system and bones of the body. It is a really nice release of hormones, bone strengthening and muscle engagement."
Even professional athletes have used whole body vibration workouts to get in shape. And it has more than physical benefits. "It gives you a lymphatic flush," says Patrick. "So in 15 minutes you get a full lymphatic flush; beautiful for the mind, beautiful for the immune system."
A single class costs $18. Packages are also available.
Vibetality also offers a Sensory Deprivation Tank, Chandler's only flotation therapy tank. The Oasis flotation tank offers a serene, sensory-free environment, free from gravity, strain, tension, or pain.
The tank is 100 percent light-proof and contains 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, which allows your body to float effortlessly. Sessions inside last an hour.
Once inside the Vibetality flotation tank you'll float effortlessly in a tranquil state without any external stimulus to distract your mind. The near-zero gravity you experience inside the sensory deprivation tank provides an opportunity for deep relaxation, using the principles of Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST) to help your mind and your body relax.
Developed by Dr. John Lilly, the isolation flotation tank experience was first used for brain research and often for exploring different states of consciousness. Since Dr. Lilly's time, research has since found that sensory reduction can result in incredibly beneficial states of relaxation, deep expanded healing, boosts in creativity, meditation, problem solving, learning, sports performance conditioning, and self-awareness.
We're told it leaves you refreshed, as if you had just had a great night of sleep. "This is an opportunity to condense your sleep brain," says Patrick. "One hour in the flotation tank and it feels like eight hours of sleep."
A single float costs $60. Monthly packages are also available.
Vibetality bills itself as a "Human Optimization Studio." It offers an entire wellness center including traditional yoga classes, flotation therapy, massage, biofeedback meditation sessions, and bio-wellness.
