PHOENIX -- After several days of sunny, hot and dry weather, Valley residents can expect more of the same today. The Phoenix area will warm to about 108 degrees this afternoon, which is about four degrees above average for today's date. Tonight's lows will drop to the mid 70s to low 80s under clear skies before we warm right back to about 107 degrees tomorrow afternoon.
High pressure to our south is keeping a dry, westerly flow for the Southwest. Our weather pattern begins to shift later this week as the ridge of high pressure moves to our east. As monsoon moisture returns to our region, there's a decent chance for storms in the high country Thursday, with a slight chance for showers in the Valley as well.
Over the weekend, we could begin to see some tropical moisture, thanks to a tropical storm expected to develop off the coast of Central Mexico. If that storm moves up toward the Baja Peninsula, Arizona could eventually see more rain this weekend, along with cooler temperatures.
