A Valley couple celebrated their 72nd anniversary over the weekend.
Chester Russel, 93, and his 92-year-old wife, Dorothy, have been together since their early 20s after meeting each other at a country-western dance.
"The first week or two, we were together five nights out of each week," Chester said. "Then after that we started going steady. It was 13 out of 14 nights we were together."
They only knew each other three months before getting married, which caused a lot of people to be skeptical of their relationship and how long they would last.
The couple now have six children and many grandkids they plan on celebrating with over the next two weekends.
"If we are still topside three years from now when it's 75, we'll really have a celebration," Chester said.
When asked what the secret is to a successful marriage, Dorothy said it's simple: "We love each other."
