Labor Day Breakfast

Arizona's labor community will  mark the Labor Day holiday with its annual Labor Day Breakfast Monday September 1, 2014 
at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Phoenix on 3rd Street.The event marks both the holiday and the traditional kick-off of the Fall political campaign season. This year's event honors retiring U.S. Representative Ed Pastor.
Registration: 7:30-8AM
Doors Open: 8AM

Tourism Study Shows
Tourism is one of the state's biggest industries, and a July presentation by the Arizona Office of Tourism says travelers produced $19.8 billion in direct spending in 2013, resulting in $2.7 billion in federal, state and local tax revenue. 
GOODWILL "Hunger Action Month"
Labor Day kicks off "Hunger Action Month."  From Sept. 1-4, shoppers will get specials savings including orange tags (the color of hunger awareness) and purple tags both being discounted for double tag savings. Essentially, that's one-third of the store at 50 percent off!

Wet N' Wild Labor Day Special
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, veterans, members of the active U.S. military as well as first responders (active duty police, fire and EMT) can enjoy a day of fun at Arizona's largest water park for FREE. Additionally, up to six immediate family members will receive half off admission - $19.99 plus tax - during this special weekend.

The park is open for additional holiday hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, September 1st and then will reopen each Saturday and Sunday until October 5.

The Wounded Walk
On September 1st, The Wounded Walk will mark Mission: Mojave as complete. The 310 mile journey began on August 1st from Palm Springs, CA and will end at the Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix, AZ.  United States Marine Corps veterans, Adam Shatarsky and Ross Delafield, stepped off from Palm Springs to begin a journey through extreme heat, sand and silence, all for wounded veteran awareness.  The Wounded Walk is a national nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness for wounded veterans.
