PHOENIX -- Two people were seriously injured when their vehicle crashed into a light pole in Phoenix early Saturday morning.
Phoenix police said a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was heading west on Camelback Road around 2 a.m. when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and collided with a pole on the northwest corner of the 16th Street intersection.
The 24-year-old driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Police said his survival is questionable.
The 25-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. Police said the passenger was properly restrained.
Police said they found indications that both occupants may have been impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash. Detectives are waiting for toxicology results.
