Phoenix weather: Hot, dry weather expected for holiday weekend

PHOENIX -- As Arizonans prepare to celebrate the Labor Day holiday weekend with pool parties, fishing, camping and grilling, the monsoon is taking a break.
High pressure is producing a dry westerly flow through the state. This is expected to keep skies mostly clear, storms out of Arizona, and will allow temperatures to soar several degrees above normal for this time of the year.
In the Valley, look for daytime highs close to 110 for Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will gradually drop headed into Labor Day Monday and through the new week.
In the high country, look for daytime highs ranging from the upper 70s in Flagstaff, to the low 90s in Sedona through the holiday weekend.
Towards the end of next week, monsoon moisture will return, humidity will increase, afternoon temperatures will drop and storm chances will return to the high country.
