GILBERT, Ariz. -- The medical examiner has identified the body pulled from a Gilbert canal Wednesday as that of 15-year-old Maxwell Flancer, according to police.

Flancer's mother reported him missing Tuesday night and found his hat floating in the canal near their home Wednesday.

Maricopa County Sheriff's divers found the body in the water near Val Vista Drive and Williams Field Road.

Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Sanger said the cause of death has not yet been determined.
