Phoenix weather:Hot weather comingPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A departing low pressure system will mean decreased storm chances over the next few days. A few storms will still rumble through the high country today, but the Valley should remain quiet. Valley residents can expect mostly sunny skies and a high of about 101 degrees this afternoon.
Drier air will begin to spread into Arizona from the west over the next few days. As high presure also builds over our region, afternoon temperatures will begin to climb. Mostly sunny skies are expected through the holiday weekend and temperatures will peak near 106 degrees by Friday and 108 degrees by Saturday.
Temperatures begin to level off by Monday and Labor Day will bring a high of 102 degrees under sunny skies. Overnight lows should stay in the low 70s to low 80s for the next week.
Storms are unlikely through at least the beginning of next week, even in the high country with the exception of today.
