PEORIA, Ariz. – Homicide detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office have arrested a husband and wife in the death of a man found in a Peoria canal last week.

Nathan Carl Perez, 41, and Billie Jean Perez, 40, were arrested Sunday after evidence linked them to the murder of Rolland Lee Tockey, according to the sheriff's office.

A bicyclist discovered Tockey's body floating in a canal near 71st Avenue and Greenway Road on Wednesday.

Detectives gathered information that led them to the couple's Peoria home near Olive and 67th avenues where they reportedly found further evidence. Detectives did not disclose any details about that evidence.

Nathan Perez was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and concealing a dead body. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.

Billie Jean Perez was booked into the jail on suspicion of hindering prosecution but has since been released.
