PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. – A 20-year-old man was able to escape a carjacking Friday morning in Paradise Valley.

The Phoenix man said he was driving home from work in his 2001 Toyota Corolla on westbound McDonald Drive at about 5:30 a.m. when he stopped for a four-way stop sign at what police believe was Invergordon Road.

Police said he was approached by three white males who were sitting on the corner. One of the suspects pointed a handgun into the air and told the victim to get out of the car. The victim then drove around the suspects in the oncoming lane of traffic and drove home without further incident.

The man was unable to provide any detailed description of the suspects because it was dark out, according to Lt. Michael Cole with the Paradise Valley Police Department.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

Cole said officers are actively investigating the incident and it will be turned over to detectives for follow-up.

Anyone with information about the attempted carjacking is asked to contact the Paradise Valley Police Department Crime Stopper number at 480-948-7410.
