PHOENIX -- A Valley woman who is definitely "young at heart" is celebrating a major milestone!
Lola Spector turned 101 on Thursday. She's a resident at Fellowship Square in Phoenix, and employees and fellow residents threw her a big birthday party in honor of the event.
Lola came to the Valley 22 years ago after the death of her husband. She says she thinks the desert may have helped "heal" her and enabled her to live a long life.
She has certainly led an active life. Lola used to play sports, and she used to dance when she was in school in Ohio.
And even though she may use a walker now, Lola is still an active part of her community. She calls herself the "mayor" of Fellowship Square because she loves to chat with everyone.
She says she's not sure why she got such great genes, since most of her relatives only lived to be in their 70s.
She tells us that she is happy, and has been happy most of her life.
Happy birthday to you, Lola!
