Phoenix weather: Stormy week aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The early morning hours of Monday brought spotty showers along with thunder and lightning. The storms moved out of the Valley right around sunrise, but left behind high humidity and cooler temperatures in the upper 70s.
A low pressure system moving south along the California coast is helping to draw moisture into Arizona. This will lead to an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms today and tomorrow, with heavy rain and gusty winds the biggest threats.
Look for a high of 104 degrees this afternoon with partly cloudy skies and a 30 percent chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Afternoon highs are likely to stay in the upper 90s for the rest of the week.
Later this week, tropical moisture from the south could lead to high rain chances again before drier air and warmer temperatures return by Sunday.
