Phoenix weather: warm weekend ahead

PHOENIX -- As a ridge of high pressure builds over Arizona in the upper levels of the atmosphere, we’ll see drier weather for the next several days. That will translate into a reduction in the number of thunderstorms statewide and temperatures increasing. Most of the thunderstorms through the weekend will be in the higher elevations of our state and will be very widely scattered in nature.

The muggy weather for the Valley will break as well this weekend, giving us some cooler morning and nighttime temperatures. However, that will also allow afternoon temps to spike a bit. We’re looking at highs in the range of 106-110 degrees for the weekend around metro Phoenix.

Chances for rain come back into the forecast by Tuesday of next week. It’s too early to say whether we’re looking at a major outbreak of storms of just action of the “scattered” variety. But for sure, we will see rain chances Tuesday and Wednesday.

The increased moisture will bring temperatures back down and once again, we could have a couple of days next week with highs only in the 90s.
