Suspect accused of shooting man walking dog in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting Wednesday night.

Jordan Corral, 23, is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault and endangerment.

Corral is accused of confronting then shooting a man who was walking his dog near Hardy Drive and Sixth Street.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at about 10:30 p.m. and found a male victim with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital. Police said he had serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Officers began searching for the shooter, who had fled on foot. Corral approached officers in the area of Fifth Street and Beck Avenue and told them he was the one they were looking for, according to Lt. Mike Pooley.

Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.

The name of the shooting victim hasn't been released.
