PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say the father of a 6-year-old girl killed in a car accident in west Phoenix appears to have been driving while impaired. Phoenix police say 6-year-old Amy Vega did not survive her injuries after her father somehow lost control of his vehicle Friday evening at 75th Avenue and Osborn Road. His Ford Mustang collided with a Chevy pickup. They say the 39-year-old father, whose name was not released, is in critical condition but expected to survive. The 53-year-old female driver of the Chevy remains hospitalized in critical condition. Officers at the scene say speeding and impairment may have factored into the accident. The girl's father is expected to be booked on charges upon release from the hospital. Police say the girl was sitting in the front passenger seat.
