Man critically injured in Tempe hit-and-run

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run that left a man critically injured Thursday night.

Police said a 29-year-old man was crossing the street at Scottsdale Road and Hancock Avenue, which is south of McKellips Road, when he was struck by a red Dodge Durango.

His prosthetic leg was among the debris on the street.

Two witnesses reportedly saw the collision, tried to help the man and called 911.

The man was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition.
